What Your Score Means

A score of 5 - 9 indicates mild anxiety, and monitoring is recommended. For Panic Disorder, Social Phobia, and PTSD, a cutoff score of 8 may be used for optimal sensitivity/specificity.

A score of 10 - 14 indicates moderate anxiety and a possible clinically significant condition. Further assessment (including diagnostic interview and mental status examination) is suggested.

A score of 15 or greater indicates severe anxiety, and active treatment is probably warranted.
